Evading Spam and Junk Mail

Spam/Identity Protection

Keeping your email safe from spammers can be very challenging. Even if you only give it out on trusted websites, sooner or later they all seem to get picked up by spammers. There are several reasons for this:

* Your email is only as safe as the computers it is stored on. Many of those computers might someday get compromised by viruses, spyware, worms, and trojans, many of which collect personal information for illegal spammers' databases.
* Nowadays you need to provide an email to register for almost anything. The more times you give it out, the more chance spammers will find it.
* Spammers are getting more and more clever at defeating spam-blockers and filters, and at guessing email addresses.

What can you do?

* Enable spam filtering. Our hosting service provides adjustable levels of spam filtering.
* Set up separate emails for personal and business email.
* Use multiple, unique emails for each time you must register for something, then forward to your personal account.

One strategy that works well (and can be done with our hosting service) is setting up a unique and separate email for each service that you must register for. That way if one email address is compromised, you can simply change that one and not have to change your email on dozens of other websites. You can have them all forwarded to one account that you actually read. Our web hosting service allows you to setup an unlimited number of email accounts. This is very easy to do with our web-based management console. You can setup a new email and forward it to your main account in less than 30 seconds.
